Topic: Lindy Focus New Year's Lindy Hop Party - Asheville, NC.

Message: THE TRI-SWING TOURNAMENTThis year's featured competition will be an event like no other. The Tri-Swing Tournament was established in the days of old as a friendly competition between the three most established schools of dance wizardry: Lindy Hop, Balboa, and Slow Drag/Blues. Champions were selected to represent each style, and all competed in syncopated showdowns. The powers-that-be took turns in hosting the tournament, happening only once every five years. It was generally agreed to be a most excellent method of establishing ties between aspiring dance stars of different styles...until, that is, the death toll mounted so high that the tournament was discontinued. However rumors grew of a discovery in the East - after years of being lost, the Tri-Swing Cup was discovered once again! Our own Departments of Interdisciplinary Swing Dance Cooperation and Jazz Inspired Games and Sports, having made the discovery, have jointly deemed that the time is ripe to resurrect the aged-old Tri-Swing Tournament. All may enter the tournament and all entering shall be champions in their own right. The departments have worked tirelessly over the summer to ensure that all champions remain unharmed, however enter at your own risk! The format shall be as follows. All competitors must enter with a single partner, and will dance to music selected by the musical adepts among the Lindy Focus staff. The preliminaries shall consist of all-skate heats, during which competitors will be asked to dance Lindy Hop, Balboa, and Slow Drag/Blues in successive rounds which shall be independently judged. The finals shall consist of a grand competitive jam which requires them to demonstrate their showmanship as well as versatility in all styles.Eternal glory! That is what awaits the winners of the Tri-Swing Tournament. We await your arrival this New Years!learn more: http://www.lindyfocus.com/thecamp.phpregister now : http://www.lindyfocus.com/about/competi … gistrationCOMPETITION REGISTRATION OPENIn addition to the Tri-Swing Tournament, we'll host a Solo Jazz and Charleston Competition, the return of the Novice Any-Swing-Goes Jack and Jill, and Open Jack and Jill for both Lindy Hop and Balboa, and for your entertainment and inspiration, an Invitational Jack and Jill for both Lindy Hop and Balboa. We expect all divisions to sell out.
Topic: Camp Balboa Seattle 2011

Message: Register Now, before July 1st to get the price break of $149. What are you waiting for? Here's what some of the dancers said about Camp Balboa Seattle 2010."OMG! Camp Balboa Seattle was A-MAZE-ING! Like for real! I had two nights of some of the best dances I've had in ages - GREAT Music, awesome instructors.... Can't wait for next year!""Great Job on Camp Balboa Seattle 2010, Jo! Since i've only been dancing since Feb, i didn't realize that this was the 1st year....OUTSTANDING!""What I liked best about the camp was how we progressed by learning simple variations of moves we already knew, rather than random fancy moves that are so hard to remember. Can't wait to get out for more dancing!""The event was amazing. I will be back next year.""Camp Balboa Seattle , latest Pacific Northwest Balboa event, was absolutely amazing. Amazing social dances and awesome workshops with great instructors including Nick Williams, David Rehm, and Kate Hedin. Special thanks to Jo Ann Coker for making this event happen. Looking forward to next year's event."Camp (Fun, Social Gathering) + Balboa (Swing Dancing) + Seattle (Hip, Urban, Diverse) = A Good Time! See you there!
